Identified only as Sinead (pronounced “Shinade”), this poor canine appeared to have just given birth—possibly frantic because she couldn’t locate her puppies—and suffering from immobility that turned her agonizing cries into a plea for help.
The Road to Rescue
Compassionate volunteers arrived, scooped her up, and rushed her to the Animal Wellness Center, where x-rays revealed a heartbreaking truth: her spine was fractured, though thankfully her limbs and pelvis remained intact. The spinal injury, however, had compromised her nerve function in the hindquarters.
It was a grim diagnosis, but not a final verdict.
Healing with Hope
The medical team placed Sinead on cautious care: intravenous fluids, nutritional supplements, and catheter support due to bladder control issues. Most critically, she began a series of daily laser therapy treatments—nine rounds so far—and the progress has been promising. Sinead’s appetite returned, she started moving on her own, and within two weeks, signs of muscle and bone recovery became evident.
Though her spine remains misaligned, veterinarians are cautiously optimistic. Sinead is on the mend, but whether she’ll walk again remains uncertain.
